GWYN AT THE MET

Tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones has just enjoyed his debut in a leading role at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Manrico in Il Trovatore. It's a role generally regarded as one of the most difficult in the tenor repertoire.

The first night on 29 September was reviewed by the New York Times which commented, 'Mr Hughes Jones sang with ardent muscle . . . . and acted with intense commitment to the opera's gloriously extreme plot'.

Gwyn can next be seen on the operatic stage in Britain as Pinkerton in Madam Butterfly for Welsh National Opera and Rodolfo in La Boheme for English National Opera, but it won't be long before he's back in New York, centre-stage once more.
